O Gran Camiño 2026

The 5th edition of the O Gran Camiño starts on Tuesday and finishes the following Saturday. The race in the north-west of Spain was held in February in its early years, often plagued by bad weather. This year, O Gran Camiño begins with an individual time trial, while the decisive stage comes on day four, in which the riders will tackle almost 3,000 metres of climbing in 145.7 kilometres.

Alejandro Valverde won the inaugural edition of O Gran Camiño, while Jonas Vingegaard claimed victory in 2023 and 2024. Derek Gee turned out on top in last year's GC.

Route

In its short history, O Gran Camiño has often featured very demanding mountain stages, but this year’s route is relatively moderate. Stage 4 stands out as the key mountain test, while the other stages take place on rolling to hilly terrain. Over five days, the riders tackle 9,891 metres of climbing across 633 kilometres. The race opens on Tuesday with an ITT in A Coruña.
